19th April 2023: Zimbabwe India Trade Council along with the Embassy of Zimbabwe celebrated the 43rd Independence Day of Zimbabwe in the city of Bangalore, Karnataka.

Marking the key not address, the Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr. Godfrey Majoni Chipare remarked, “At the political leve the state of relations between India and Zimbabwe have been excellent and cordial & which is based on the close friendly tie and this glossy political relationship is not much with the trade figures whichcontinue to grow stronger. The delegations from governments of both sides have been exchanging at the highest level as well as on the private level for business and tourism understanding have been increasing in number day by day”. Talking about the strong linkage created by ZITC Ambassador further added, “I would like to complement the lead role by the ZITC for organizing various trade and business promotion events and conferences to put our business links on a higher pedestal. I am also sure that Zimbabwe post a population of 10 thousand of Indian population whi plays a pivotal role in expanding relations between our two countries”.

The commemoration was attended by friends of Zimbabwe from the business side as well as diplomatic Corps, industrial representatives and media. It was decided during the India visit of the First Lady of Zimbabwe to celebrate the National Day of Zimbabwe in Bangaluru city, considering the importance of this city with the presence of ZITC Secretariat and key industrial representatives working in Zimbabwe.

In February, 2023 Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of ZITC met with the Vice President of Zimbabwe to discuss various key initiatives. It is expected to see a delegation by ZITC going soon to Harare to meet high level authorities. During his address Dr. Iqbal stated about the strong plans towards expanding Zimbabwe India Trade relations.

On the side lines of the celebrations, Ambassador also inaugurated the India Africa Trade Council’s SADC office which also caters to the ZITC office the same afternoon. The commemoration of the Zimbabwean National Day also witnessed the signing of two major MOUs for business promotion in Zimbabwe.

It was joined by a number of import guests including the CEO of the BIAL Airport City Ltd., Mr. Rao Munukutla; Mr. Chander Baljee, Chairman- Royal Orchid Hotels.
