14 December 2024

The Indian diaspora in Brunei has established itself as a cornerstone of the nation’s economic and cultural fabric. From spearheading initiatives in oil and gas to excelling in education, healthcare, finance, and entrepreneurship, Indians in Brunei have built a legacy of hard work, innovation, and trustworthiness. Their contributions have significantly strengthened Brunei’s position as a dynamic economy within the ASEAN region.
Brunei offers expansive opportunities for those willing to innovate and invest. Sectors like oil and gas, renewable energy, technology, construction, healthcare, and hospitality have seen Indian professionals and entrepreneurs excelling. The thriving collaboration between the Indian diaspora and Bruneian businesses underscores the vast potential for more Indian enterprises to explore this promising market.

Supportive Policies and Warm Communities

The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and the Bruneian government have been instrumental in fostering a welcoming environment for businesses. Their proactive support ensures that enterprises, whether local or international, have access to the resources needed to succeed. Additionally, the people of Brunei have embraced the Indian community, creating a foundation of mutual respect and shared growth. This alignment of government, institutional, and societal support has amplified the success of the Indian diaspora.

A Significant Milestone for Bilateral Trade

In a move to strengthen economic ties further, the Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO) signed an MOU with the Indian Business Chambers of Commerce Brunei. This partnership aims to promote trade and investments between India and Brunei across multiple sectors.
