To set the agenda for India COMESA Economic Prosperity! We see a future, where the most significant and influential decisions concerning India’s economic development are taken based on recommendations that will be made at the annual India COMESA Economic Forum.
It is widely believed that one of the core attributes of transformational national leadership is to be able to chart a course for progressive prosperity and positive national transformation. It is true that national Leadership needs continuous atonement to the needs, desires and expectations of the populace, when the expectations of the people are unmet, leadership stands at the forefront of blame and citizen’s distrust, it for this reason that it is important to regularly bring leadership and the populace together to take stock, identify bottlenecks and mutually propose ways for socio-economic development going forward-India COMESA Trade Council seeks to do just this.
COMESA has evolved a comprehensive decision making structure at the top of which is the Authority of the Heads of State and Government of the 21 member countries. There is then a Council of Ministers responsible for policy making, 12 technical committees and a series of other advisory bodies (including specific relations with partner countries and the business community). In addition each member state appoints liaison persons in their appropriate ministries who form part of the day-to-day communication process.
Overall co-ordination is achieved through the Secretariat, based in Lusaka, Zambia.
This combination of experience and innovative thinking at the India COMESA Council has led to valuable recommendations on the country’s economic development goals. This year the Meeting Focusses with Group sessions who will discuss Export trade, Finance models from Exim Bank, Understanding Tax structures, Technology, Infrastructure, Tourism among others at the meeting.
The meeting will also provide opportunities for participants to interact with business experts from the public and private sectors, as well as the country’s foreign diplomats and service providers.
