IETO President Dr. Asif Iqbal with the Ambassador of Djbouti in China H.E. Mr. Abdallah Abdullahi Miguil

Mr. Khodr Dokmak
IETO Delegation met the senior diplomat His Excellency Ambassador Abdallah Abdillahi Miguil from the Republic of Djibouti.
Mr. Abdallah is currently posted as the ambassador of Djibouti in Beijing China.
The two countries maintain a strategic partnership in development and security. “It is an honor for our country and our president to be the first African and Arab Head of State to be officially invited to China since the re-election of His Excellency President Xi Jinping as general secretary of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, who is also president of the People’s Republic of China.” said Mr. Abdallah.
This is a testimony to the strong relations between the two countries and the two peoples. It’s a relationship that has evolved over time. But it’s a relationship that has grown exponentially. It is a relationship that has gone from a normal relationship to a strategic partnership relationship.
“It is a relationship that must match the vision of our President of the Republic Ismail Omar Guelleh who plans to make our country the Singapore of Africa. Taking into account the geo-strategic position of our country, we want to make a node and a multi-modal maritime hub in Djibouti” he said.
China is well positioned today, knowing full well it is a key player in international trade and on the maritime front. Ambassador mentioned the need for the creation of a free zone to be able to attract all the manufacturing and industrial Chinese products in Djibouti so that Africans and Arabs can come to buy, and make Djibouti more than an open place for trade and shopping for all people from different continents.
He wanted to see Djibouti turning into an international financial and banking center like Hong Kong because they have had a very strong currency tied to the dollar since 1949. These are the objectives and ambitions of a country that will be on the mission to achieve such goals.
“As Ambassador of my country to the People’s Republic of China, I am proud of the dynamic relations between our two countries and I am sure that the future will be bright.” He told the president of the Indian Economic Trade Organization.
He also recalled the days of his visit to Bangalore at the Narayana Hrudalaya hospital and appreciated Dr. Devi shetty’s efforts in bringing affordable cardiac surgeries and helping patients from Djibouti and other parts of Africa.
In January 2023, Djibouti signed a deal with the Hong Kong Aerospace Technology Group to build the first African spaceport. The agreement followed a January 7th visit of a delegation from the company led by Vice President Allen Fund to meet with the Djiboutian government and Chinese Ambassador to Djibouti Hu Bin. The $1 billion USD project, expected to be completed in 2028, provides the Chinese company full ownership of the spaceport for 30 years, after which the facility will be handed over to Djibouti. Djibouti represents an advantageous location for orbital launches as its proximity to the Earth’s equator (10° latitude), and the consequential increased rotational speed requires less fuel for launches.
Djibouti is poised to play an active role due to its location and proximity to the maritime boundaries.
